Proudly overlooking the Vienne Valley, Touffou is a strange yet noble, and enchanting site.
The chateau was mentioned as early as 1127. The two 12th century keeps were joined in the 15th century, adding to a rampart walkway and the defensive wall slits, which perfected the chateau's defences.
To visit: the Francis I tower and its frescoes, the chapel tower (chapel and dungeon) and the Hôtellerie tower (once the bake house and kitchens). Unaccompanied visits of the gardens and the stables.
